About

Empowering immigrant entrepreneurs and small businesses through strategic, purpose-driven brand development. Building alternatives to corporate monopolies.

Storytelling is the most powerful way to captivate audiences and convert them into loyal fans of your brand who not only subscribe to your messaging but feel empowered enough to share it with those around them.

Clarity is how fragmented brands can align their efforts and craft stories that truly resonate with their audience.

About Me

Hi, I’m Saïd. I help mission-driven brands tell better stories that connect with their audience. When your brand is clear, it attracts the right people—supporters who believe in what you do and want to help you grow.

I build platforms that give small businesses, social enterprises, and community organizations the tools to compete without relying on exploitative big-tech solutions. My work is about creating alternatives—not just in branding but in how businesses and movements operate.

What I Do

I’m a bilingual (Spanish/English) brand strategist, artist, and UX designer. My work blends fine arts, web design, marketing, online education, and technology to create spaces—both online and offline—where small businesses and social ventures can thrive.

My focus is on helping:

  • Immigrant entrepreneurs
  • Community leaders
  • Artists & academics
  • Social impact startups
  • Purpose-driven businesses

I specialize in user experience (UX), brand storytelling, and digital infrastructure, ensuring that grassroots organizations have access to scalable, ethical, and financially sustainable solutions.

My Projects

I run multiple initiatives designed to give small businesses and social ventures more autonomy:

  1. The Foundry is a hybrid incubator, community, and business directory that helps mission-driven organizations build their brand, gain visibility, and secure funding. Organizations get a free directory listing, a guided course for brand-building, and optional fundraising tools.
  2. Barriofied is a digital platform concept that can help Hispanic restaurant owners take orders online without paying the massive fees of corporate delivery apps. Restaurants own their customer relationships instead of relying on third parties that exploit them.
  3. RoofRoof is a service that connects home improvement contractors directly with clients, cutting out lead-generation middlemen. Through online courses and tools, contractors learn to generate better-qualified leads without paying high referral fees.
  4. saïd + art is a marketplace where artists can sell their work and build their own client base without restrictive commissions.

These projects might seem different, but they share a common goal: giving small business owners and creators more control over their success.

How I Can Help You

If you want to build a brand that reflects your values and resonates with your audience, I can help. My focus is on clarity, strategy, and sustainable growth, so you can build something that feels authentic and meaningful.

  • Digital courses: step-by-step guidance on branding, marketing, and audience building.
  • Community memberships: a space for social entrepreneurs, creatives, and activists to share resources and grow together.
  • One-on-one consulting: personalized brand strategy and UX guidance.
  • Contract retainer: ongoing design, marketing, and digital strategy support.

Instead of vague promises of success, I focus on giving you the tools and knowledge to build a brand that aligns with your vision.

Define a clear voice that states who you are—or, even better, who you aren’t—and connect with an audience that truly cares about your why.

Saïd Martínez Calderón

Entrepreneurial Activist

I was brought undocumented to the U.S. from the outskirts of Mexico City on July 4, 1992, when I was five years old. Today, I work in the Washington, DC, area, bringing over 15 years of experience in graphic and web design. I’ve worked with major organizations like the World Bank, AARP, and DELL (and am sometimes embarrassed by the fact).

I started Martínez Calderón Co. to work with brands that value diversity and want to embrace our multicultural heritage. I partner with people who truly care about diversity, equity, inclusion, and protecting our environment.
